This is my go-to loom for swatching. It is super easy to set up and you can weave a swatch in under an hour. Grab this bundle of Swatch Maker looms in the most common setts of the rigid heddle loom—8, 10, and 12. Included in each bundle are three looms in the three different sizes, color photo instructions, two acrylic tapestry needle, a small metal tapestry needle for the smaller and tighter areas of the project, and a reusable cotton bag stamped with the Yarnworker logo.
The sets are now available in two different materials, white acrylic and birch. The translucent 1/8” white acrylic is my favorite for showing true colors. It has a matte finish on the front and a glossy finish on the back. Weavers’ love wood tools, so I also offer the set in birch engraved with the Yarnworker logo. (The logo doesn’t show up well on the white material.)
Each loom measures 6″ x 7 1/2″ with a work area of 5″ x 6 1/4 ” for quick and easy swatching.
The material is sourced from a woman owned Houston business and looms are laser cut and assembled in the Purl & Loop Houston studio. Purl & Loop is proud to pay its workers a living wage. All loom packaging components (needles, cotton bag, instructions, etc.) are sourced from U.S. Businesses.
These looms allow you to test your weaving ideas before investing the time and yarn in setting up a larger project. Read this blog post to learn more about how these looms came to be or watch this Facebook live stream to see Liz compare the two styles of Swatch Maker looms.
